«La Salata» nature-archaeological Oasis in the area of the Historic structure/building of Vieste is a small paradise of 6 000 square metres known throughout the world and recovered in 1997 by local Wwf volunteers. Here history archaeology and nature are in a perfect balance: there are more than 300 rock-hewn Early-Christian tombs and dating back to the 3rd-4th century AD surrounded by a lush vegetation with scented Mediterranean scrub interrupted by two streams with salty water where turtles eels frogs and mullets swim. Don't miss the adventurous guided tours amid wetlands karst phenomena and archaeological ruins. The Oasis is fenced and can be entered only with tourist guides.
